Engaging Future Talent Through Sustainable Challenge-Based Vocational Education

Addressing drop-out rates and increasing enrolment in vocational studies
The project aims to reduce drop-out rates in vocational education and training (VET) while increasing enrolment in construction and wood-related studies. By introducing innovative learning approaches linked to real environmental challenges from the industry, it seeks to improve student motivation, engagement, and relevance of education. In doing so, vocational training is better aligned with the needs of the productive environment.

Understanding challenges and future needs in the construction and wood sector
The project begins with a mapping phase to analyse the main causes of early school leaving and low enrolment in wood studies. At the same time, it explores the future skills and knowledge required by companies in the construction and wood sector. This ensures that the project’s activities and outputs are based on real labour market needs and contribute to more relevant and future-oriented education.

Developing skills through challenge-based and sustainable learning
In the second phase, students work on real-life challenges posed by companies through structured learning stages, including idea exploration, creativity sessions, prototyping, and final presentation and evaluation. This approach supports the development of both technical and transversal skills, while promoting sustainability and circular economy principles. The project also contributes to creating innovative educational content based on collaboration with industry.
