Developing Future Skills Through Computational Thinking and Sustainability

Building Future-Ready Skills
As education evolves, the focus is shifting from knowledge transfer to developing independent, reflective, and collaborative learners. Skills such as computational thinking, problem-solving, sustainability awareness, and personal and social competencies are becoming essential for success in both professional and everyday life. At the same time, education in a digital society must ensure equal opportunities and participation for learners with diverse backgrounds and needs.

A European Training and Certification Framework
To address these challenges, the project aims to develop, implement, and evaluate a cross-sectoral and standardised training and certification system. Built around the core pillars of Computational Thinking, Entrepreneurial Thinking, Sustainable Futures, and Green Skills, the initiative will support future-oriented competence development across vocational education and training (VET) and higher education institutions throughout Europe.

The project’s main outcome will be the ComeThinkAgain Certification and Education Training System (CETS) — a micro-certification framework offering flexible learning modules for both vocational and higher education learners. The system is designed to provide recognised, transferable credentials that support lifelong learning and workforce development.

Empowering Educators as Multipliers
Teachers and trainers play a crucial role in preparing both today’s professionals and tomorrow’s workforce. Therefore, the project primarily targets teacher educators in higher education institutions and VET trainers working within ICT and industry-related sectors such as manufacturing and production.

All learning materials developed through the project will be published as Open Educational Resources (OER) under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licence, ensuring broad accessibility and reuse. The certification approach is inspired by the internationally recognised European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL/ICDL) model. Its effectiveness will be validated through pilot implementations and teacher training activities conducted by project partners across participating European countries.
